Brownie Ingredient Converter
Convert common brownie ingredients between volume and weight. The calculator uses a separate reference weight for each ingredient because a cup of flour, cocoa, sugar, butter and chocolate all weigh different amounts.
Why ingredient-specific conversion matters
Volume measures the space an ingredient occupies. Weight measures its mass. A cup of cocoa contains far less mass than a cup of packed brown sugar, while nut butters and syrups are denser again. Using one generic cup-to-gram formula would create large recipe errors.
How to use the result
Use the conversion as a practical reference when a recipe gives a unit you do not normally use. If a Yummy Brownie recipe already gives a gram quantity, keep that original value rather than converting it to cups and back again. Weighing flour, cocoa and other dry ingredients is generally more repeatable than filling a measuring cup.
About the reference weights
The values are stored in one reusable site dataset and normalized to grams per cup for calculation. Individual brands, grind sizes, packing methods and measuring technique can change the actual weight. Brown sugar is treated as packed; nuts use the preparation named in the ingredient list; ounces in this calculator mean ounces by weight, not fluid ounces.
